Description
The 1957 Proof Silver Franklin Half Dollar is a special edition of the regular Franklin Half Dollar, which was minted from 1948 to 1963. Unlike regular circulation coins, proof coins are struck with a higher level of detail and a mirror-like finish, which makes them highly collectible.
The 1957 version features the familiar design of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse, created by John R. Sinnock, and the Liberty Bell on the reverse. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams. Only a limited number of proof coins were minted in 1961, making it a desirable piece for collectors, particularly those seeking to complete a set of proof Franklin Half Dollars.
