This penny was given away in the year 2000 as part of the new Sacagawea program. Infamously, General Mills ended up giving away 5,500 free dollar coins that are now each worth around $3,000! If you did not get lucky enough for one of the dollars, you would receive this cent instead. A fun relic of the one time you could get a rare item in a cereal box.
